Orlimar Iron Set vs Mach 1 Pro
Target Audience
The Orlimar Intercept MB Iron Set targets skilled players, specifically mid and low handicap golfers. Its design features reduced offset and a thinner top line to appeal to better ball-strikers seeking control. In contrast, the Orlimar Mach 1 Pro Complete Set is designed for beginner and intermediate players. It focuses on game improvement and ease of use. The Mach 1 Pro also specifically targets tall men, offering a +1" length option to accommodate taller frames. This makes the Mach 1 Pro more accessible for newcomers or those needing longer clubs, while the Intercept MB caters to experienced players.
Shaft Material
Shaft material significantly impacts feel and performance. The Orlimar Intercept MB Iron Set uses lightweight steel shafts for all its clubs. This provides a consistent feel and precise feedback for the iron set. The Orlimar Mach 1 Pro Complete Set offers a mixed approach. It includes graphite shafts for the woods and hybrid to boost swing speed and distance. However, the iron portion of the Mach 1 Pro set uses steel shafts. This combination aims to maximize distance off the tee while maintaining stability in the short game. Both sets utilize steel in the irons, but the Mach 1 Pro adds graphite for the longer clubs.
Included Bag
A complete set often includes a bag for convenience. The Orlimar Mach 1 Pro Complete Set includes a premium golf stand bag with a 7-way top and five pockets for storage. It also features padded dual carry straps and a hydration sleeve. The Orlimar Intercept MB Iron Set does not mention an included bag in its specifications. It is sold as an iron set only. If you need a bag, you must purchase it separately for the Intercept MB. The Mach 1 Pro provides a ready-to-play solution with all necessary accessories, making it more convenient for immediate use on the course.
Size
Club length and fit are crucial for comfort and performance. The Orlimar Mach 1 Pro Complete Set is explicitly designed for tall men, with a size option of +1" length. This extra length helps taller players maintain proper posture and swing mechanics. The Orlimar Intercept MB Iron Set comes in Men's Standard size with specific lengths for each iron, such as 38" for the 5-iron. It does not offer a tall option. If you are taller than average, the Mach 1 Pro’s extended length is a significant advantage. Standard-sized players might prefer the Intercept MB for its traditional fit.
Build
The construction style differs between the two products. The Orlimar Intercept MB Iron Set features hollow body construction with a deep, low center of gravity. This design redistributes weight to the perimeter for forgiveness and improves launch conditions. It uses stainless steel heads. The Orlimar Mach 1 Pro Complete Set also uses stainless steel for its iron heads with a cavity back design for forgiveness. However, its woods include a titanium driver with a 460cc head. The Mach 1 Pro also includes a precision mallet putter with an offset plumber’s neck hosel. The Intercept MB focuses solely on iron performance, while the Mach 1 Pro offers a diverse build across all club types.
